Building upon the successful 'Lakhpati Didi' initiative, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has announced a plan to establish 'SHE-Marts' - a powerful step towards economic independence for women.

SHE-Marts: A Community-Owned Revolution
'SHE-Marts' are designed as community-owned retail outlets, strategically placed within cluster-level federations. These outlets will be established through innovative financing instruments, ensuring a sustainable and inclusive business model.
The concept is simple yet powerful: by providing women-led enterprises with a dedicated retail space, the program aims to boost their marketing avenues and, consequently, their annual income.
As of September 2025, over 2.5 crore women had already achieved the 'Lakhpati Didi' status, with an annual household income of at least Rs. 1 lakh. The goal now is ambitious: to reach 3 crore women by March 2027, empowering them to achieve financial independence and success.
